General Requirements for Participation in the Showcase
- 1 Contestants must be 16 years of age or older and must live within the United States, US Territories, Canada, United Kingdom or South Africa to upload any material in to the You, God’s Music™ Multimedia Channel. Contestants must submit legal documentation that they are 16 year or older, such as a driver’s license, state identification, passport or parental consent form if under 18.
- 2 Contestants will be asked to record and upload, up to a total of 4 songs, to the You, God’s Music™ Multimedia Channel throughout the whole Showcase. Video slideshows of Christian images such as lyric videos with audio, or lip syncing to a video recording not pertaining to the contestant WILL NOT be accepted. Lip Syncing to ensure a more perfect performance is acceptable, where musical enhancement technology may not be available, especially in a live outdoor setting as long as the contestant's voice can be heard in the background. You MUST submit full length songs, no short clips will be accepted.
- 3 Once the Contestant’s material is approved, he/she will be notified by email or text. At the end of every round, Contestants will be notified by email or text whether or not they make it to the next round.
- 4 A different musical video must be provided for the first three rounds and in the Finals, the Contestant may sing a new song or select a musical video submitted in previous rounds.
- 5 Vote count will be shown in the first three rounds on the Contestant's thumbnail image and each Contestant will have available a list of their donors, located in their donation notes. Vote count is hidden in the Final Round.
- 6 For the Finals, Contestants will be prompted to upload the best of the previous three video performances, or choose a new musical video to be voted again by the General Public.
- 7 During the Semifinal Round, contestants must prepare a 2-minute video testimonial on how their faith in Jesus Christ, has impacted or influenced their life. This testimonial does not impact scoring but will allow the General Public to know more about each Contestant and be inspired by how the contestant’s Christian faith has impacted the Contestant and made him/her a courageous disciple of Jesus Christ. This video testimony will have to be uploaded at the beginning of the Semifinals. This testimony should be a story behind the contestant's song to add a personal touch to the contestant's performances so that the audience can connect with them.
- 8 With any original song performed in the Semifinals and Finals, the Contestant will be able to obtain up to 15 bonus points from the Judges’ score. If so, the Contestant will need to provide legal documentation to prove that they are the owner of such song or that he/she has the permission by the owner, to perform such song in a competition setting.
- 9 The live faith video testimonial should be recorded in the English language, however no more than 50% of all musical videos can be in Spanish.
- 10 A Christian Church, Community or Christian Educational Organization will be awarded 20% of your total public votes.
- 11 Contestants will be encouraged to invite their friends and as many of their supporters as possible, to register and become part of the You, God’s Music™ Community and vote for the Contestants.
- 12 Contestants’ progress in this competition depends on talent and on the number of supporters that Contestants are able to obtain. In each round, the Contestant’s score will start once again from scratch, no matter what his/her score was in the previous rounds. The Contestant's vote count will be displayed on the Contestant's thumbnail photo, in the first three rounds, but not in the Finals.
- 13 Employees of You, God’s Music™ as well as its board members, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, and vendors (collectively “Employees”) and immediate family members and/or those living in the same household of Employees are not eligible to participate in the Showcase.
- 14 Contestants can perform and upload Christian cover songs or their own original Christian music. Each Contestant will be able to select songs from 25 million Christian songs, from the combined catalogs of ASCAP, BMI and SESAC. All genres are covered, from Contemporary Christian and Gospel. Contestants do not need to purchase sheet music or any rights, in order to upload a submission. You, God’s Music™ retains the right to provide final approval of a Contestant’s selected cover song or original music.
- 15 In the Finals voting round, the judges' scores are submitted directly to our CPA Ridout Barrett and kept confidential, where Board Members and Contestants do not have access to the judges' scores. Contestants will not be able to interact with the judges while the Showcase takes place. Vote count will not be shown in the Final Round, however a list of their donors, located in their donation notes, will be available.
