  • TESTIMONY: My name is Scott Coulter, and I am originally from Corpus Christi, TX. A few years ago, I was homeless, and living on the streets of Corpus Christi because I was an alcoholic, and addicted to methamphetamine. In 2010, I went through a divorce from my wife of 13 years. Both of us were not living right.. I was an alcoholic at the time, and she was addicted to drugs. When we went to court, the judge saw the lesser of two evils and gave sole custody of our 4 children to me. All visits with the children's mother, and all phone calls were ordered to be supervised, and with that being said, all communication from her with our children stopped completely. So.. It was just me, and the children (2 boys, 2 girls) from 2010-present. Things are difficult for a single parent. My heart goes out to the parents that step up, because God knows I've suffered through it. As you would imagine, the stress of having to hold down a job, and raising a family on your own was hard to handle, so I drank a lot of alcohol to cope. Then, when alcohol wasn't enough, something stronger was what I turned to. Meth soon became the god I worshipped, and the idol I bowed down to, and I let it take everything from me. My kids, my house, my car, my job, my time, my money, my whole life.. I gave everything and obeyed this false god called meth. The thought of losing my children made me want to commit suicide, but I remembered a lesson in Sunday school when I was a child about Jesus leaving the 99 to come back for the 1. I WAS THE 1! I was that 1 lost sheep, and I cried out to Jesus to rescue me! A few days later, a stranger came up to me and offered me a bus ticket to anywhere I wanted to go in Texas. I thanked him, and asked for a bus ticket to Longview. He bought me the ticket that day. When I got to my destination, I joined the New Creation Discipleship Program at the Hiway 80 Rescue Mission. It was there that I built my relationship with Christ and learned how to be sober and stay sober. I have been sober now since June 21, 2019, and haven't looked back since. He has since given me a very good job, He has given my children back to me, and I am getting married to the best gift i could ever ask for on April 16, 2022... AND she is a PACKAGE DEAL with a 7 year old girl that God knew I would love as my own! I am so thankful that He heard me cry out that day in 2019, and I am thankful that He loves me so much. I was addicted to dope, but now I'm addicted to hope. Thank You Jesus! Now I spent my time writing music, and singing praises to Him! I hope you like the songs the Lord has blessed me with, and i pray that you are blessed always!
