Very very amateur self recording of me playing and singing the cover “In Color” by Jamie Johnson.

I wrote this song following the conclusion of Round 2 of the 2025 competition. I was doing a mundane task that became a little extra difficult and then suddenly it worked out. I said to myself “I almost gave up”… then the lyrics followed “but I didn’t give in” - and the song was born!

I chose this song because I love the bluesy take on this classic! As their rendition is a duet, I also harmonize with myself throughout the song. I recreated their music myself in GarageBand. I grew up singing the old version of this song in church and as it says - I’ve got the Holy Ghost!

This is a live recording of my original song which is written in an open C tuning on acoustic guitar. This song is based on Joshua’s response to the Lord, saying that he did not want to go anywhere, unless the presence of the Lord would go with him. This is the cry of the heart of His people.
