see moreI wrote “A Way Forward” because I have been through some incredibly dark times (losses, depression, and some things I’m not comfortable discussing with a stranger). Even though that was the case, I found my way forward through Christ first and music second. Along the same vein, the point of view the song is told from goes along that same path. Starting first in a dark place with seemingly nowhere to turn, then (as a last resort) calling out to God to provide peace. The second verse signifies the doubt felt by many Christians in their lives, but by the end of the second chorus, that doubt is replaced by hope. The bridge and final chorus are all about fully dedicating your heart and soul to Jesus. During this, I reference the “footsteps in the sand” poem where it’s described that Jesus carries us through the hard times even though, most of the time, we don’t realize it. In this dedication, you find your way forward, your path through the hard times, and the peace that only a relationship with God can provide.

see moreOver the years, we have heard many little nuggets of wisdom that we've felt could make good songs. Recently, we heard a Gospel reading at a wedding about unconditional love. The priest said Jesus loves us "even if, even what, no matter what." As soon as we heard that, we knew we had to write this.

see moreA special cover of “Rooftops” by Jesus Culture, honoring our cousin Tate, a wounded warrior. We sang this song to him, and now we sing it for him—across different rooftop levels to symbolize rising praise and remembrance. This one’s for you, Tate.
