I chose the song "Abandoned" by Benjamin William Hastings, because I feel like this has been a season of my life, where God has truly deepened my relationship with Him. It's been a season of giving Him absolutely everything and learning to be completely abandoned for Jesus.

This song was born out of a deep realization of God’s overwhelming love and sacrifice-something we could never repay but are called to respond to.

In this Christian life, Satan is constantly trying to steal our faith with lies. I wrote this song several years ago to encourage myself and anyone who hears it that once we repent, we are what JESUS says about us in the Word of God, and we are NO longer defined by our past sin.

Jesus changes everything! Purgatory Road evolved a year into my recovery after 13 years of addiction and alcoholism. God met me at the darkest time in my life, and this event inspired me to write and release songs. My purpose is to praise God and tell a story of healing through faith and music.

This song was chosen after a series of events happened through God, I spoke with the elders on the Alpha course about holy gifts you receive, then I experienced the incredible Holy Spirit when singing and then I heard of this competition and I know God is pointing me here. I’m so very grateful!
